Come join us for a discussion about what’s new in transfusion medicine! We’ll talk about new blood products coming to Canadian blood banks, like pathogen-inactivated platelets, leukoreduced whole blood and even cold stored platelets. Then, we’ll look at recent research studies from Canada and elsewhere that have looked at aspects of blood compatibility well beyond blood group antigens, such as the sex and age of the donor and the recipient. To wrap up, we’ll look at the impact of new technologies from next generation sequencing to red cells and platelets grown in bioreactors to the role of drone technology.

Dinner will be provided.
